In Austria, 2,998 new coronavirus infections have been registered in 24 hours.
This is above the previous seven-day average of 2,517 cases, but the seven-day incidence dropped slightly to 196 cases per 100,000 population. 13 deaths were added since the last day. There were 541 infected people in the hospital on holiday, eight fewer than on Wednesday. Forty-three affected people are still receiving intensive care, one fewer day and 15 fewer on the week.
228,722 PCR tests were reported within a day. Their positive rate was 1.3 percent. Since the pandemic’s start, there have been 4,243,293 confirmed infections with SARS-CoV-2 in Austria. 4,184,997 people have been infected, and 3,560 were considered free of the virus within the past 24 hours. Therefore, the number of active cases decreased to less than 40,000 people affected.
Three thousand eight hundred thirty-seven vaccinations were carried out on Wednesday. Of those, 179 were first-time vaccinations, 351 were second-time, and 3,307 were third-time vaccinations. According to E-vaccine passport data, 6,827,980 people in Austria have received at least one vaccination. 5.9 million people, or 65.9 percent of the population, have proper vaccination protection.
